microlaser peel™: The "weekend" peel

The Microlaser Peel™ is targeted to your skin type and depth of desired peel with the accuracy of a laser. The laser is precisely tailored to the individual and the condition to be corrected. With a 50-60 micron peel, healing takes three to five days and; therefore, it has come to be known as the "weekend peel." Ask Dr. Hawkins about the deeper treatment for line around the mouth. This is the best 'bang for your buck' procedure.

The Microlaser Peel™ treats blemishes, superficial scars and uneven texture on the face, neck or chest. Typically, only one treatment is necessary to achieve satisfactory results.

What is the MicroLaserPeel? It is a laser treatment that precisely removes the top layer of the skin and stimulates the collagen underneath. The procedure is individually tailored to the nature of the problem to be corrected: wrinkles, scars, keratoses or pigmentation problems.

Who should consider a MicroLaserPeel? Because the depth of treatment is tailored to the condition, most people can achieve a desired result with the MicroLaserPeel. Patients looking for better results than microdermabrasion or light chemical peels can offer, should consider the 20 micron peel. If you like to photofacial but are willing to accept some social downtime for better results, this is the treatment for you.

How many MicroLaserPeels do patients need? Many patients see excellent results after one treatment. Some request a second treatment for best results.

What can the patient expect? Smoother, healthier more vibrant skin. The patient will notice a significant and immediate change in skin texture and tightness.

What type of anesthesia is used? A topical anesthetic is applied 30 minutes before the procedure.

Do I have to wear any type dressing or bandage after the procedure? No! A healing ointment is applied to the skin to maintain moisture. You will continue to use an ointment for a few days.

How long is the healing process? The healing process varies from patient to patient but will generally take from two to four days. Immediately following the procedure you will feel as if you have a sunburn. You will have minor sloughing and itchiness the following day. By day two, redness will begin to fade and by day three any redness can be easily covered by makeup. If the procedure is done on a Thursday or Friday, you can usually return to work the following Monday with minimal makeup.
